Gemelli Noodles with Spicy Sausage, Celery, Caper Fruits and Fennel Seeds
Spicy, cured Italian sausages are wonderful things! And you really don't need much more than a few slices of that full, rich flavor to pep up any number of dishes- like this simple pasta supper of mine this evening!
This sausage was rich in paprika, with fennel and garlic and a hint of smokiness- perfect for giving a great flavor-base to this pasta. With just a few fresh ingredients and 3-4 large juicy caper fruits, this was a simple but special dish to make and one that I hope you all enjoy it!
I started the pasta cooking in plenty of well-salted water and at the same time, started frying the thinly sliced sausage at a moderate heat. Whilst it began to brown, I added caraway and fennel seeds and a little crushed garlic. I then sliced and added 1 stick of celery, 2 Spring onions and 4-5 caper blossoms. And whilst that was all cooking nicely, I chopped a good handful of parsley finely, some chives and a little basil.
Once the pasta was ready, I drained it and added it to the pan with the other ingredients and tossed everything gently. Another 1-2 minutes for the flavors to combine nicely together, a little handful of fresh parsley and celery leaves and you are ready to join the party! This is just a great bowl of wonderful flavors- Try it, enjoy it and share it with someone special!
Just the kind of thing that's perfect for a summer evening, no? Quick and easy, but tasty. With a nice, chilled white wine, you're set.
ReplyDeleteExactly right you are- as usual Frank! Chilled white wine and company would be better still! ;-) Ciao from Francesco
